Couldn't complete as the utility-vm can't be created due to insufficient resources on us-central1-f. Tried again a different day and it worked but still very frustrated having to do this. I created a VM on us-central1-b but then got kicked out the lab for disobeying the instructions and threatened with being blocked so gave up. Will try again later but pretty rubbish so far.
