The multiline commands have empty lines in-between, at least if pasted using middle button which comes natural in *nix. As a result, for example, the command to create second-vm will be a single-line command, and all the rest of the lines would be interpreted as separate shell commands. Thus, for example, machine type will be the default instead of what's on command line. Also, the URL "from previous task" is misleading as there's a big fat example right afterwards. It took time to figure out the difference.
