dataflow didnt load data in a few minutes, so i had an empty dataset

At the point of selecting the topic for the dataflow job "Under Input Pub/Sub topic, enter projects/pubsub-public-data/topics/taxirides-realtime". When I initially entered the value by copy/paste it showed the entry as invalid. I had to click on manual entry before it accepted it without red underline. The job created did not showup in the graph or table so I was unsure if it was running. Not sure if there is a way to tell if a job is writing data out correctly.
