gcloud init command does not work as explained in the docs. Once that command failed all the subsequent command failed.

Step 7 onwards should explicitly state which project to use (not "other project"). Also, the first gcloud init is framed as being "optional" if the system is not already preconfigured - it has to be run to generate the .boto file.
