Good intro. After #65, I suggest adding a step to show how to verify that "Your instance is now accessible ...". I was unable to ping it using the public IP address. Maybe this is okay (because I never enabled ping?), but putty also failed. Perhaps I missed a step, but I cannot be sure. Also, just a suggestion, it would be nice if your tutorial showed what happens if I attempt to delete a VPC before removing the EC2 instance.

I've connected to the EC2 instance to check connectivity. It would be useful to install Apache to check port 80 connectivity as well.
