I think the path should change it from #export BASE_DIR=${BASE_DIR:="${PWD}/.."} --> export BASE_DIR=${BASE_DIR:="${PWD}/"} in hybrid-multicluster/istio-migrate-hipster.sh and hybrid-multicluster/istio-migrate-hipster.sh

Not sure what happened but I didn't have a declaration for the $BASE_DIR variable needed to run some steps. I had to manually add it.

the installation for "source ./bootstrap-workshop.sh" is broken. the terminal vanished after it kicks off. time to debug and get this fixed.
