Environment variable $WORK_DIR is defined somewhere in the script? When cloud shell reconnect (connection hiccup) the env variable is lost and all have to be figured out and reset. Tried again. The bootstrap scripts generated lots of errors and finally quit the cloud shell. Waste of time.

could not run `source ./bootstrap-workshop.sh` successfully. got error "ERROR: (gcloud.beta.container.clusters.create) ResponseError: code=400, message=Current master version can only be set to one of "REGULAR" channel supported versions [1.16.13-gke.1]."
