While performing the lab, I created the VPC network, firewall rules, and VM instance correctly. The firewall rules were configured to allow both HTTP (port 80) and SSH (port 22), and the VM had the correct network tag (http-server). The VM was running and had a valid external IP address. However, when I tried to connect to the VM using SSH (both from the console and Cloud Shell), I encountered the following error: Permission denied (publickey) Additionally, the console was showing a message related to the Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP) API not being enabled, even though this lab does not require IAP. This issue appears to be related to SSH key authentication rather than network or firewall configuration. In Qwiklabs environments, SSH keys are automatically generated and injected into the VM metadata. In this case, the key was either not properly attached or there was a mismatch between the Cloud Shell key and the VM. Because of this, the VM was rejecting the SSH connection even though all configurations (network, firewall, and VM setup) were correct. This indicates that the problem is not with the lab steps, but with SSH key propagation or session handling in the temporary lab environment.
