again, ssh-in-browser would not connect. other methods (gcloud, or terminal from my PC) were failing with Permission denied (publickey) - like a few days ago on other lab projects

The lab instructions are missing a note that specific role (roles/bigquery.dataEditor) is required for VPC log flow to be visible and to be able to get the needed data set visible for BigQuery. At least for me the needed permissions were not automatically granted when I created the lab steps via web console. Took me a while to figure out why the VPC log flows and data set were not visible even when creating traffic to web-server.

I couldn't create Apache Web Server at a first try on the lab, I followed instructions but SSH was never allowed. As second try I can complete my LAB.
