It does not work. I create the service account as instructed, then created the VM. After authorizing the service account on the VM, I am unable to re-initialize; I can select the service account user, but then am told "this account has no projects (I am not prompted to select the project or initialize the GCE component).

Useful illustration of a very powerful tool. I suggest the final product should be an image rather than a snapshot, to reduce the number of steps to instantiate a new launcher.
