Lab requires !pip install google-cloud-bigquery==1.0.0 It doesn't work with later versions. I could not complete the lab. This solved the issue: !pip uninstall -y google-cloud-dataflow datalab google-cloud-pubsub google-cloud-monitoring !pip install --upgrade google-cloud-bigquery

Running of this line "client = bigquery.Client()" would come with a Python error.
