@Davis A. I tried what you did trying to cheat the checks. It didn't work. The check might be checking old stuff instead of the Google Operation features. A lot of broken labs on Monitoring, Logs, Alerts, Policy and Metric. Worst of all, a lot of fake posters in there. How did anyone rating 5 stars while the labs are broken ??? I attempted twice on this lab and spent 3 hours on this lab alone. Frustrating to not able to figure what exactly the check is checking. But you are learning a lot by troubleshooting the lazy works in here. If you don't have it yet, try out ACloudGuru.com

Created user defined metric to look at protoPayload.methodName="v1.compute.instances.insert" but when instances were created it came was logged as protoPayload.methodName="beta.compute.instances.insert" so I changed my metric to include that. Alerts and notifications came up when I created VM instances but my objective check still failed. Chatting with Qwiklabs Live to figure out what's wrong. Check failed me...

Fix your crappy labs. User defined logs-based metrics Section will not validate, so I can't tell wh-t's wrong. I have everything down, went back to double checks everything multiple times, and still not validating. I learned a lot from troubleshooting your lazy works.

Screenshots are out dated and had to complete task different than shown in lab (e.g. couldn't see user defined metric in Create Alert, bu t could create the alert when starting from the metric and then clicking "Create Alert" from ellipse). Could not get past "Create user defined log based metrics." Completed all tasks but "Check my progress" failed.
