Step 2 simply says "Launch on Compute Engine". In fact, one has to click on that and then complete some configuration information. Then you click on "Deploy" and THEN only do you see the deployment manager screen. Slightly outdated instructions. Otherwise, great.

In the deployment steps, there's an extra step required after clicking 'launch' - you have to click deploy on the configuration page.
