Gave my storage object viewer service account the compute engine admin role. Still wasn't able to view compute engine list in VM's SSH. Did some digging and found that the compute engine API was disabled on that VM. Is this the main reason why I wasn't able to view the compute engine list? Anyways no other issue with this lab.
