https://www.coursera.org/learn/streaming-analytics-systems-gcp/discussions/weeks/1/threads/7R9iqD4xTCifYqg-MTwowQ Answer to why first pubsub subscription request doesn't return the message Hugh LampertWeek 1 · 6 months ago Hello! In the pubsub lab, it's obviously expected that the first attempt to retrieve a message from the subscription will not return the "hello" message, but the reason why this is the case is not explained anywhere. The absolutely useless lab walk through video that follows the lab glosses over this point as well (in addition to the fact that subscription counts are not shown on the topics page as the lab implies). Can anyone tell me why the first call to retrieve the message from the topic fails? Is it because the subscription was put in place after the message as published to the topic? Thanks and regards,
