The lab feels very basic and could benefit from more advanced, hands-on activities such as ingesting data from Cloud Spanner or other relational database management systems, or directly from a staging Google Cloud Storage (GCS) bucket. This approach would eliminate the need for manually downloading files to a local machine and uploading them, making the experience more aligned with real-world, production-level workflows. Since this is an official Google lab, incorporating tasks that focus on automating workloads and simulating production environments would greatly enhance the learning experience.
