The lab recommends: Edit the file gke-rbac-demo/terraform/provider.tf using the Cloud Shell editor and update the version for Terraform to the latest stable version, 2.12.0: And in the file there is 2.17.0. And running: sed -i 's/latest_master_version/default_cluster_version/g' terraform/main.tf Breakes the templates (when using 2.17.0). I recommend against updating terraform provider version and additional fixes. Current version is 3.74.0 and probably far more fixes are needed.

Given that almost everything is already given in manifest files, there is not much that you need to do. It takes longer to provision and teardown the example, than to actually run it. IMO it will benefit from adding a section to create some of the roles and role bindings "manually", and only later just apply manifests.
