Intresting demo, nonetheless you could add a ping to example.com to see that it is possible to get dns resolution becasue the port 53 opened, but you can not reach icmp becasue the egress limits

lab cluster didn't work. I couldn't create a cluster due to an error, I waited 5 minutes and then it worked.
