he network diagram is confusing. There was a problem connecting via SSH. Even after changing the IP addresses in allow-iap-proxy, I couldn't connect to the VM via SSH.

hit resource limitations 10 minutes into the lab... restarting to try again. changing the compute resource creation to zone east-d allowed me to finish the lab.
