Cloud SQL for MySQL: Qwik Start avis

Halfway through the lab, just as I'm getting to the part where I have to create a database and upload data, I go paste the password into Cloud Shell, but then Cloud Shell freezes entirely. Restarting the instance didn't work, making a new Cloud Shell session didn't work, so I guess you can't copy and paste text from outside sources into cloud shell, otherwise it locks down your session?
