some things like explorer pane probably changed in UI across versions which makes the exploring a little bit more time consuming. On the other hand it allows for f around with the tool a little bit more which can be helpful in a long run.

Given instructions are pretty clear, but I don't think that an user actually gains understanding of the infrastructure and hierarchy of BigQuery.
