Not only was there a type mismatch in the join that I had to go through five steps to resolve myself without any direction, but the pipeline failed twice and I don't see where to see the error message even when looking at the advanced logs.

Having labs terminated because of unauthorized use of the lab resources when the actual descriptions in the lab guide doesn't match the reality of the Google Cloud service is just plain bullshit. Update the instructions to match the GUI and don't charge extra for trying to fix the issues you yourself has created.
