couldnt find out how the pipeline runner resolved. acc to the doc we should have ended up w/ DirectRunner, in which case i should have observed a log but i didn't. i believe the log level was appropriate. maybe i should have configured log destination to stdout or was i looking at a wrong version of doc? https://beam.apache.org/releases/pydoc/current/_modules/apache_beam/pipeline.html#Pipeline
