these labs don't actually check whether I complete the task. I get it done and it's correct but the Check My Progress doesn't register it.

very poor explanation on the last task with Looker Studio, it seems to be a point of frustration all over the internet.... maybe be more explicit as to what connection to the data is expected.... "cutom query" would avoid people wasting such precious time after clearly demonstrating they can handle SQL queries through the first 9 tasks....
