While the lab is highly interesting, there is a bug in the Challenge: The source code which is meant to be downloaded during the startup script isn't valid for Go versions under 17; and the version provided in the script is 16. Due to that, it will fail (without creating the metric) and non-Go users won't be able to notice how to fix it, even if they find the error on the Logs of the Compute Instance.

Preconfigured VM instance and startup scrip have an issue with GO version. Failed to start with version 16.2, so need to reisntall it fo v17 or higher and start main.go mannualy

restarting the vm does not help with starting monitoring agent when project, instance and zone are set in the startup script.

Startup script is not working because Go modules were updated and now we need to use Go 1.17. So with additional modifies of script we can proceed.
