I recently completed a Qwiklabs challenge lab, and honestly, the experience was frustrating from start to finish. While the idea of hands-on labs is great in theory, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Poorly Written Instructions – The lab instructions are vague, often outdated, and sometimes completely incorrect. They assume too much prior knowledge without providing proper guidance. Unclear Debugging Support – When errors occur (which they frequently do), there’s little to no structured support to help troubleshoot. The error messages are often cryptic, leaving users to dig through Google Cloud logs with no real guidance. Setup Issues – Basic setup steps like configuring containers, running training jobs, or deploying models frequently break due to missing files or incorrect paths. It feels like no one tested the labs before publishing them. Unreliable Cloud Environment – The environment provided is inconsistent, and sometimes the allotted time isn’t enough to troubleshoot issues caused by Qwiklabs' own setup failures. Unnecessary Complexity – While challenge labs should be challenging, they should also be achievable. Many of the tasks feel needlessly complicated due to bad documentation rather than the actual concepts being tested. Qwiklabs could be a great platform if they focused on up-to-date instructions, better debugging guidance, and more reliable environments. Until then, I can’t recommend it to anyone who values their time. ⭐ Rating: 1.5/5 – Needs serious improvement
