Lab was stuck at 4th checkpoint. There seemed to be a caching issue with the console, the VM instance kept loading after deleting. Could not create instance template (it wouldn't show up in the list) blocked the latter steps.

always gives error in the last step

Lab has things that simply don't work properly. For instance, at one point it asks you to choose a region close to us-west1 but not in the same region. The only regions you can choose between are europe-west-4 and us-west-1. I was there fore unable to complete the lab sucessfully.

Load balancer does not really work. There is an error in the monitoring NO_BACKEND_SELECTED. That would explain a timeout in while trying to load the backends. The first 50k requests are fast, but then requests slow down.
