There is an error in the "Check your progress" for assigning student 2 the Cloud Storage Viewer role. I triple checked that I had everything right and still the progress check failed. I managed to get around it by also assigning Cloud Storage Admin role, then the progress check worked. I would have been fairly upset if I had run out of time before I figured that out.
