I encountered an issue while completing the Introduction to Vertex AI lab. During Task 2 (Train your model), the lab requires specifying a Cloud Storage output directory. However, the provided student account does not have the necessary permissions to write to any Cloud Storage bucket. Specifically, I received the following error: Permission 'storage.objects.create' denied I also verified this through Cloud Shell using: gcloud storage cp test.txt gs://<bucket>/output/test.txt which resulted in the same permission error. Additionally, creating a new bucket is not possible due to: Permission 'storage.buckets.create' denied Because of this, it is not possible to complete the training step as described in the lab instructions. While I understand that the lab later suggests using a pretrained model (Task 5), the earlier steps imply that training should be executable, which may confuse learners. Suggestions: Either grant minimal required permissions (e.g., Storage Object Creator) to the lab account, or Clearly indicate that Task 2 training is optional/skippable due to restricted permissions, or Provide a pre-configured writable bucket for the lab environment This would improve clarity and avoid unnecessary troubleshooting for learners. could be clearer in instructions. Also, maybe a pop-up within the lab could help
