SOLUTION FOR ANYONE READING: 1) You're going to want to fork into your personal github. Go to Cloud Build -> Triggers and click "Create Trigger". From here, you can authenticate your account and access the new repository. 2) Follow the guide, to fill out the variables, but select "Inline" on the Cloud build configuration location. Place the cloudbuild yaml file in there with the following at the bottom to get rid of the first potential error. options: logging: CLOUD_LOGGING_ONLY Finally, just choose the "-compute@developer.gserviceaccount.com" Service account so that you don't have to muck around with permissions on the service account used for the pipeline. All in all a great learning experience, though definitely a time commitment to tinker and figure out the solution.
