Lab is Outdated, Cannot Generate Cloud composer version, and if newer version of composer is created, the rest of the lab steps do not work... Too much has changed since the lab was created and is uncompletable in its current state

Lab insists on using composer 1.20 but it is not avialable since end of March 2024 ERROR: (gcloud.composer.environments.create) INVALID_ARGUMENT: Found 1 problem: 1) Invalid image version: 'composer-1.20.8-airflow-1.10.15' derived based on your input: 'composer-1.20.8-airflow-1.10.15'. Currently suggested new environment image versions are: [composer-2.6.6-airflow-2.7.3, composer-2.6.6-airflow-2.6.3, composer-2.6.6-airflow-2.5.3]. Broken lab

The creation of a Cloud Composer environment is currently hindered by the fact that the image version is derivative. When attempting to utilize a different version, the chosen zone or location is not compatible with Cloud Composer version 2.0.0 or newer.

It appears there are issues with image-version of composer now and only 2.* versions supported. This requires additional wrangling with IAM roles for v2 etc. The instructions might need an update

not working
Diego M. · Reviewed about 1 year ago
The specified instructions do not work. Composer 1 is outside of support, and a new project cannot be created using the command. An attempt to bypass the issue by setting up a composer-2 variant of the command resulted in the lab being ended prematurely.
