While I appreciate the demonstrated functionality in this lab, I am somewhat disappointed that it teaches the objectives using deprecated and End of Life tooling without explicitly calling it out. I wouldn’t want to use any of the specific code or commands in a production environment. For example, the functions code uses Node.js v10 which has been unsupported for years, Cloud Functions v1 and gsutils commands which are deprecated, and the GitHub repo with the example code was archived in 2022. While the features are useful, the value of an interactive lab is undermined significantly when I can't (read: should not) apply the actual methods instructed here in production.
