The lab doesn't work - the provided images are JPEG, but the instruction (an apparently the progress checking too expect PNG)

two of the sample files were jpgs, not pngs so I had to convert them; also, once again it tells us to edit the request.json with no clarification on how to do that. i wound up using emacs because i'm old... but surely in 2024 there is something better (plz don't say 'vi' or 'vim').
