The exercises were helpful, but from the examples I'm not clear when I need to use UNNEST and when I can just join trusting the correlated cross-join. I think you should add another race to the race_times table to help enforce that distinction. Also, the grader on tasks 8 and 9 is very picky. Using lower(substr(<field>,1)='r') doesn't pass while using <field> like 'R%' does. I'd think the former more precise.
