Got kicked out of this lab several times while creating the mysql instance with a message saying I was not following the lab. That also resulted in a warning when starting other labs. However, I did follow the directions. Eventually, I deviated from the instructions to make the mysql instance a micro with the cheapest configuration instead of the default. That seemed to resolve the problem. The instructions said to accept the default machine configuration :(
