message-processor is gradle in the env , but the instructions in the lab are given for maven. gradle build is also failing due to some unknown reasons

When calling spring initializer, need to add "-d type=maven-project"

You need to add "-d type=maven-project" to the initializr command or it will default to a Gradle project and there will be no pom.xml
