I upgraded master to latest version in 2 steps, and then the nodes to the same version (1.15). The check progress does not recognizes that. If I follow instructions exactly, and just upgrade to 1 level higher, it works OK though.

Had to do this lab multiple times just to get the "check my progress" button to work due to instructions being out of date and not properly written to align with new versions available in GKE (three major version are available at the moment, and instructions/"check progress button" did not cover this).
