there is an error in the instructions, it does not say to choose "Standard persistent disk". This was omitted from the instructions. It needed to be included.

With the disk sizes mentioned in the desc (500GB + 10GB for the disk with OS) I got an error - 'Quota 'SSD_TOTAL_GB' exceeded. Limit: 500.0 in region us-central1.' I was forced to use a 480GB disk instead of a 500GB one, so that 480+10<500.
