There are so many things that you have to figure out that were barely touched in previous labs; like how we were introduced to ExtractVariables, which is used nowhere in the lab. Instead we are using AssignMessage with AssignVariable, AssignTo, and/or Set; I had to find a git repo with to cross reference my updates. You also don't explain how to extract request and response objects in neither your documentation for jsonPath or firstnonnull; you don't even cover it in the previous labs.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS LAB 1. jsonPath template function does not work as expected, unless you add the third argument (which is marked as optional) it does not give any results. 2. propertyset.language.output does not resolve when used inside firstnonnull template function.
