After banging my head against a wall for a couple of hours trying to get Bastion to function as a NAT gateway, I created a separate NAT gateway to get the private server access to the public internet. This gave me a 5/5 score, even though no NAT gateway is present at the start of the lab and the instructions say that you shouldn't create any additional instances. If you're supposed to get Bastion to function as the NAT gateway, then fine, my bad. If you're supposed to create a NAT gateway like I did, though, then the lab's wording is very misleading.
