This was a good lab that shows how to manually use autoscaling groups with cloudwatch to automatically scale higher while also monitoring your resources in order to be ahead of any issue through mail notifications.

CLI for scaling group and launch configuration did not work. I was able to create via the console, but did not have contents of the user data file.
