Lab generally worked fine EXCEPT for: There was an error message about a bad gateway that caused confusion about whether the lab would launch properly. Also, CloudFront took much longer than the 5 minutes suggested by the labs for its actions (10-15 mins) each. Just be patient and eventually the setup will finish.
