I can't create a MySQL instance because there's no us-west8-b, as the instructions said; they're only up to us-west4! In fact, I can't even choose the region at all (only 1 option that's not greyed out, and it's us-east1)! Update 11 Oct 2026: It's working now, but I think you need to be lucky so you get the zone that's available and not greyed out

Great intro to BigQuery + Cloud SQL concepts. However Task 7 import fails with HTTPError 412: The service account does not have the required permissions for the bucket. Had to manually grant roles/storage.objectViewer and legacyBucketReader to Cloud SQL service account before import worked. Please add IAM binding step to instructions or pre-grant permission. Also zone requirement changes between lab versions (us-west1-b vs us-east4-b) — confusing. Otherwise excellent lab.
