I would like to know what steps were taken to set up the EC2 instance (ie., apache, configuration, etc.) and an explanation of what is being done with the cron job commands would also be helpful.

I couldn't get many of the shell commands to work on my Mac. From Unicode decode errors to problems with tic marks, single quotes, and hyphens. What a hassle!

SSH connectivity was a challange

Unable to do any of the SSH portion. Putty never prompted to accept cert. Instead if would return server time out error.
