Step 10) S3 bucket name should be ngramlab<your ininitials>, not Ngramlab - we don't use uppercase letter in following steps after this. Step 21) AMI version mentioned here does not work for me(failed at bootstrap stage), following settings worked: AMI version:3.11.0 Hadoop distribution:Amazon 2.4.0

Could not establish connection to the master instance. I think there is a configuration error. Did a lot of troubleshooting of SG etc, but ran out of time to finish the lab so had to abandon.

When setting up the EMR master node it is necessary to add a ssh rule to the master's security group otherwise it will not be possible to connect to the instance and perform the comands. This step is missing from the lab instructions.
