Opinie (Advanced Amazon Redshift: Performance Tuning)

Java version issues on RDP env, seems really broken. SQL workbench will not run because of it. Couldn't install java 8. I have seen lots of complaints about this lab. Hope they fix it. Can't complete my quest without it ;(

The Data Load sql queries took about 75 minutes (not the 45 advertised). I did not have enough time to complete all the performance tuning tasks

not enough time to both try to learn what's going on and entering lab commands... Exacerbating the problem is using Windows as the underlying server accessing the database - it reminded me why I use MAC and LINUX interfaces

Difficult to complete in allotted time due to all of the long running queries.

Lab does run short, and should be extened by an hour or at least 30 more minutes. Lab is very time consuming as you wait for data load and scripts to run. Overall it's a good lab if you can ge through it.

I am facing unique issue. Though perform all the steps, my lab says incomplete still. I have same issue with some other lab too. Apart from that, loading takes too long, I had to hurry.

I created a Cluster Parameter Group, but the completion of this step never registered with the lab. Also, many of the automated steps took a long time. I felt like I spent most of my time refreshing the query tab on the Redshift console page, and when they were all complete I had to rush through what was left of the time.

Takes so long for all the data to be loaded that you spend most of your time waiting. The instructions and explanations after it are confusing.

Maybe a temporary problem but SQL Workbench wasn't installed on the Windows instance. You can download it from http://www.sql-workbench.net/Workbench-Build120.zip. Also the lab doesn't allocate enough time for interactive work, and should be 3 hours. I have raised a support ticket about both issues.

WorkBench empty folder.. This lab takes long time.
