As I've said previously, I really don't like the pdf in a frame style. If we are going to use pdf's I want to be able to download it, print it out, and scribble on it. Sheets of A4 give me more screen space rather than having to keep switching back and forth. A better approach would be to simply use HTML. Include separate columns for instructions and explanations. Include a check box, either manually ticked, or automatically ticked based on cloud-trail logs. Then for each instruction have a few fold-down sections, including a "show me" with a screen shot, and a "trouble shoot" listing common mistakes and how to fix them. Regarding the instructions, this LAB should not be the first time creating an EC2, or Autoscaling group. The instructions should simply give the configuration setting, and the student could then use the "show me" if they require more detailed instructions.
