I don't have a Mindcraft account, but my son does. I was able to tell him what I was doing and show him his connection being made to the instance when he logged in.

I was misled on the step 8. I got confused whether to create AWS instance or Ubuntu instance. I had to repeat the lab twice, since I created AWS instance first. Rest of the instructions were clear and crisp.

i was not able to get into the instance that i created. because there it was mentioned that automatically a key will be created but no key was created and also when i tried using PEM PPK file, it dint work for me.
