Definitely a beginner level lab. Glad to see it exists for those getting started. I could have used this two years ago when first learning about launching Windows in an EC2 environment. My experience level is beyond what was offered. Enjoyed nonetheless because sometimes overlooked tips or pointers are mentioned. Thanks.

Associating the Elastic IP dropped the RDP connection, and required changing the connection address in RDP. You might want to make a note of that in the instructions.

I could not connect to my instance via the public IP. I tried RDP, http, and even ping. I created a second instance and could not connect to that one either.
