Could not connect to the virtual instance via ssh. Not sure if this was a corporate outgoing firewall issue or an issue with the instance.

Worked great, easy to follow...until the elastic IP configuration steps. Followed each step to the letter and then my instance appeared to freeze -- I couldn't ssh to it again using either the public DNS or the new IP (didn't like the public key anymore), my existing ssh session died with a broken pipe, and any attempts to load/reload the webpage with the DNS or IP all spun forever without response. Lame. Couldn't find a way to recover it. And what was the point of the elastic IP part of the exercise anyway? Ugh...
